Joint meeting of Council and trustees held

Posted on November 8, 2013November 20, 2013

There were serious subjects under discussion at the combined Trustee/Church Conference, Tuesday evening.

As you may have heard, we were gifted with an amazing finanacial opportunity.  It can be a heavy burden for the leaders…where do we put the money?  Who do we trust to help us formulate plans for using the money?

How do we choose what to do, where to do it, and when?

It has already been decided that the money will not be “frivoled” (such a word?) away.  Some will definitely be put into a longer-term, long-range plan.  Some may be used to help other churches who have suffered terribly and struggle mightily to re-build after weather disasters.  Some may be used to solve major problems with our precious, historic building so it can continue to serve as a house of worship for many more generations.  Some may be used to help local ministries.  Some may be used to help us let people know who we are, where we are, and what we do.

None of these decisions are taken lightly.  They will be discussed, researched, brought before the congregation, discussed some more and then finalized and voted on.  This will take time.  We are not an  impulsive people in our congregation.  We are conservative.  We are aware of the blessing we have received, and our duty to not only ourselves, but to others in our town, state, world.

Please keep your leaders in your prayers as we seek God’s will for using our amazing gift.
