Copper Hill Church

A tribute to ‘Carolyn’ Kimberley

Posted on November 30, 2013December 3, 2013

From Carolyn for ‘Carolyn’

I was told the sad news today – a friend in our congregation has passed away.

I am a “newbie” at Copper Hill – I have only been a member for a little over 3 years.  I am still putting names to faces – especially of people who don’t come every Sunday, there was one face that I recognized from the very beginning.  I remember people I meet that have my name – I have trouble with lots of other names and faces but the sweet lady with the big smile at Copper Hill and I had a “connection” – our name – still not  very common.

When I was little, I was the only one who had my name. I never met anybody with my name.  It was not until I was older and beyond the need to “fit in” by abbreviating my name and adding an “e”,( it was sooo cool),  that I went back to  using my “full” name.  I had a friend, years ago, who persisted in calling me by the “English” pronounciation, she was the only one I never corrected because it sounded so neat in her accent.

The “Copper Hill lady” and I always had a big smile for each other and the last time I saw her at church, we gave each other a great big hug.  While I am saddened to know that she will no longer be in the presence of the church bodily, she will be there in spirit and I will smile for her memory, we will still have our connection – Carolyn D’Annolfo.

(Mrs. Kimberley’s name was spelled Caroline but it was always pronounced ‘Carolyn’)
