More on Caroline (Carolyn) Kimberley

Posted on November 30, 2013December 3, 2013

I visited with the family of Caroline Kimberley today.  First, we reminisced about Caroline’s faithful organ playing, a great gift in itself to her church.   Then their minds turned to a rather telling incident of about five years ago.   It also showed the sincere dedication of Caroline and her husband John (Jack) to Copper Hill United Methodist Church.   The church body was working together on a big project–repainting their church.  It involved scrapping off the decades worth of old pealing paint so that new could be applied.   Some of this scrapping work was also done from a lift to reach the higher sections.    I had been told about this incident by Lay leader Robert Loomis, but did not remember whether I was told who was involved.   The family remembered that Jack and Caroline were up on the lift scrapping and were ready to go back down to the ground but the lift would not go down.  It was out of gas or something.     Here they are, stranded up in the air with no one around.  Finally their yells attracted a neighbor and the situation was remedied without a problem.   We thank God for dedicated Christian servants like Caroline Kimberley.

I have since learned that the lift ran out of gas with people on it at least twice. Once was with Caroline and Jack on it. Once was with Robert Loomis on it. With Robert, it was evening and he had to yell for a while before a more distant neighbor heard him.
