Using the talents of many people

Our virtual services continue by using the special abilities of many people. JoAnne Jones’s musical talents are being utilized in new ways during virtual services. Each week she composes and records the pre-service music on her synthesizer. Then she transfers the recording into a new computer program she is learning, from which she embeds it into the pre-service PowerPoint slide which Jonathan Griffin can click on to play the music at service time. She also arranges and plays the harp for the music for prayer meditation and records that live ahead of time. Then she embeds the recording into another PowerPoint slide for which she has carefully chosen an appropriate picture. It all looks so easy in the finished product but hours of work has gone into just those two slides alone.

Jonathan Griffin and Cory Schantz are committing their time and technical talents to the task each week, both for the service on Sunday and for a practice time on Friday or Saturday night. That preparation time has been invaluable in working out inevitable glitches while doing something new. But I know that practice time represents a significant sacrifice for Jonathan and Cory and for all involved. Hats off to Jonathan and Cory.

Robert Loomis and Judy Holcomb have been helping both as participants (Judy as reader; Robert with history moments) and as frequent observers at our early practices, where it was very helpful to have a third participant just observing the result and reporting what they were seeing and hearing. They represent also all those who are asked to read or participate in a children’s moment form week to week. Thank you to all of you who help make our virtual services a success.
