Making a habit of taking in God’s Word

Today Pastor Kelvin and JoAnne encouraged us to make a habit of taking in and interacting with God’s Word daily. They gave several practical suggestions for ways to effectively absorb Bible truths and even use technology to do so in a busy contemporary schedule too. Pastor Kelvin noted that reading and studying God’s Word regularly has many benefits and brings us joy as well. It is a first step in growing in faith.

Online Communion included

Following the permission given by Bishop Bickerton, Pastor Kelvin again included the sacrament of communion in the online service today. He explains his support for online communion this way.

It might stretch us, at first, to think about virtual communion.  But we can remember from Scripture that God is not hindered in his work by distance. Remember that Jesus healed the royal official’s son without ever seeing him at all (John 4:46-53). So, it is not too hard for God to use the pastor’s blessing during a virtual service to bless the communion elements in your home as well and to bless your obedience to Christ’s command to remember him.  The other necessary part for our celebration of the Lord’s Supper is the preparation of your heart and your attitude of receptivity to the grace of God in your soul.  You can have the right attitude at home as well as at church.
