On the first Sunday in Advent, our focus turns toward Christmas
Excitement is building as we savor together the privilege of in-person worship during the Advent/Christmas season. Our liturgy changes as we begin by lighting one more candle each week in the Advent wreath. I encouraged those watching at home to light an advent wreath at home. Later on Sunday, JoAnne and I were privileged to be with Mark and Keely and our grandchildren as they lit the advent wreath at their home.
The most important Christmas question is, “Who really was Jesus?” Our message series this year called “Rediscovering the Meaning of Christmas” is designed to answer it. We will be using as a resource the book “Incarnation” by Adam Hamilton. This series explores the names given to Jesus as a means to understand more fully the babe in the manger and the man he became. This week’s message focuses on the cluster of royal titles, especially, “Messiah.”
